IIE-SRF Alliance Mentor Initiative - Mentor Application
Thank you for your interest in joining the IIE-SRF Alliance Mentor Initiative. The Institute of International Education’s
Scholar Rescue Fund
(IIE-SRF) is currently seeking mentors based in the U.S. or Canada to provide tailored academic and career guidance to IIE-SRF fellows – accomplished academics who have been displaced from their home countries due to violence or persecution. While IIE-SRF provides temporary fellowship positions through which scholars have an academic supervisor, many fellows would benefit from additional individualized mentorship to navigate unfamiliar academic landscapes.
The fellow and mentor will co-develop a mentorship plan in an initial meeting with guidelines provided by IIE-SRF. Mentorship activities will be conducted through regularly-scheduled virtual meetings over a three-month period, with an option to extend if desired by both parties. Activities and discussion topics may include CV review, publication support, networking advice, and others.
Your responses to the below questions will help IIE-SRF determine if you are a good fit for the initiative and if so, match you to an appropriate fellow. Once we have reviewed your application, an IIE-SRF team member will be in touch regarding next steps. If your application is selected to advance, we will schedule a brief screening call to learn more about your background and acquaint you with the IIE-SRF program. Please note that not all applicants may ultimately be paired with a mentee.
